It's been a while

So..apparently I am horrible at the whole blog thing. I can't manage to keep it up to date! AHHH. Oh well....

So a lot has gone on since March when I last updated the bolg. Ok just kidding. Nothing has happened really, at least not with Dirk and I. BUT..Skylar has done a lot!!

Skylar is now almost 7 months old. At least she will be on the 22nd of this month...so next week! WOW! She is as beautiful as ever and developing new features each day. We have a hard time figuring out who she looks like. For now we think she looks a lot like Dirk. Maybe that will change...and maybe not! Either way she'll be beautiful.

About two days before her 6mo birthday she decided that she could sit by herself. We had been working with her to sit but she never took to it. She would fall backwards or to the side (which was hiullarious to watch) but never just sit there. Everything we read or anyone we talked to said that she should be sitting on her own before she was 6mo old. So we waited and waited and finally gave up and decided she would do it on her own time. Sure enough, two days before she turned 6mo she di it. She sat on her won. Now she is sitting all the time and hates to be laying down on her back. I guess that once you get to see the world from a new perspective that you don't want to go backwards!

She went to the doctor for her 6mo check up and....well...she is no longer the petite little thing she used to be. She has grown to the point that she is now in the 97th percentile for her height and somewhere in the 85th percentile for her weight. "Thunder thighs"!!! We are feeding her well and keeping her active too but the L Bs just keep-a-comin'!

Skylar is funny! She can do a lot more than she lets you know. For example, eatting time...she loves when you hold her and rock her and hold the bottle for her. She can hold it. She can put it in and out of her mouth...but she won't do it unless you make her. She would rather just lay there and let you do the work. (I don't know who she got that from...ok its from both of us!)

Well, everyday Skylar is learning more and more. We see her notice colors. She loves to read a book about ducks and hit them...HAHAHA! And...last night she said "Da Da Da Da" She has been throwing around sylables for a while but last night it actually sounded like something! Man..I thought for sure she would say Ma Ma first. But, I guess she is just saving the best for last.

Look at those ham hands - a real field worker I think.
